This advertisement gives me a new found appreciation for the collection. The combination of messy hair, a bare, yet haphazard apartment, and ultra-relaxed posing gives a subtle rock star vibe.

I LOVE THE CAROUSEL. It really brings out the whimsy and girly looks of this collection.

He had a carousel. I love him more for that.

Givenchy SS12
Riccardo Tisci. You are a genius.
This collection was inspired by surfers and mermaids, and you can’t deny the oceanic vibe in the stellar details of this collection. The tailoring itself is a work of art, for example, the contrasting dropped lapels of the blazers are fantastic. Such a simple shift of a basic element but it renews it completely. There is a perfect balance of hard and soft between the exotic ocean skins (eel, sting-ray, seawolf) and the soft jersey knits. I am so in love with the chain haltered knit pencil skirts with their scooped, high-low hems, and sting ray streamers. I feel that the inspiration is SO obvious, but so done so artfully subtle that it doesn’t come off as ridiculous or too contrived. The jabots on the jackets give the impression of sea weed, and the shirt tails give the illusion of dorsal fins, but the result is so magical and inspiring, and so realistically wearable. The shark tooth pendants are awesome, as well as the teeth claps on the shoes. What an adorable final touch. Everything about this collection is divine.
I think that Givenchy may be one of my favorites for Paris. Yeah, actually I’m pretty sure it is. I’m in love.

Céline SS12
Sometimes it takes an intimate look at the details of a collection to truly appreciate it as a whole. I, like many, have been a big fan of Phoebe Philo’s Celine since the inception, and her evolution of minimalism has been really exciting. At first glance of this collection, I didn’t love it as much as FW11. However, Garance Dore really does capture some beautiful imagery, which shed a whole new light. A closer look at those gorgeous wide leg pants with a sheer layer and those awesome sculptural shoes, I have renewed interest in this collection.

Hermès SS12
I really love Christophe Lemaire’s second collection. The fabrics are really sublime, and the silhouettes fit into the travel theme quite nicely. Everything looks wearable, comfortable, and with a passport in hand, ready to GO!
I particularly like this look. The color combination is warm and very lush. I now am dying for a suede maxi skirt, and the sleeves on that top are so elegant. Ven though leather and suede are sort of heavey materials, this look seems very free and light. I also must say, the little flask in holder around her neck is the best accessory ever. Carrying a flask in style, I want one!

I love Prada SS12.
I feel like saying that is kind of like saying I love to breathe, but it’s so true. I feel like the more I think about it, and the more I look at it, the MORE I am falling in love with it.
The flame detailing on pleated skirts, those amazing coats, don’t even get me started on how much I love that maroon/light blue color combination! I especailly love the chiffon that flows in the back.
I feel drunk on obsession.

Oh, Marni. How I love thee.
Pretty print mixing and pastels.
I really like the sheer under skirt on most of the looks.
Also, socks with mary-janes are just adorable.

David Koma SS12
Wow.
It’s like minimalist tribal alien in a way. These dresses are so pretty, and the cut outs are seriously intriguing.

Adore these print mixes here, and the folded origami-like flaps in the rest of the collection. I’m always really drawn to designers with interesting references, and I think peeling wall paper and crafty cut outs sound like a really unique inspiration point.

Rodarte as well, because it’s art in motion.
I mean that in more ways then one.
